On arrival
Stand in the public space on Kristenova in front of the church, leaving the entrance clear.
Look closer
Look for the church's strong vertical tower against the much lower surrounding fabric; the contrast still gives the old centre a village-scale focal point.
The first layer is continuity through alteration, not preservation without change.
Start where Komín's medieval identity is easiest to see. Brno's municipal encyclopedia links the Church of Saint Lawrence to Queen Eliška Rejčka and records a charter dated 22 April 1324 in which she undertook to provide a church for her subjects here. The building you see is not an untouched fourteenth-century relic: fires, repairs and major reconstructions changed it repeatedly, including work in 1883–1884 and enlargement in the early twentieth century. That makes it a better opening, not a worse one. Komín's continuity is not about freezing one medieval object. It is about a place keeping the same civic-religious anchor while the architecture around that anchor keeps adapting.
Accessibility at this stop
Current church-event listings describe barrier-free access, but the exact route surface and stopping point still require human verification before publication.
