Finish the tour on Calle Predicadores, standing near the broad facade of the Casa de Amparo.
Look closer
Historic wall brickwork and the spatial contrast between narrow callizos and wider institutional street fronts.
Contrasts elite institutional patronage with working-class lanes and reflects on lost Mudéjar monuments.
Finish on Calle Predicadores near Casa de Amparo and read the street at two scales. Narrow parcels and callizos of medieval origin sit beside later institutional architecture such as Casa de Amparo. Interpreting that contrast as a shift in urban scale is exactly that — an interpretation of the surviving streetscape, not proof that every building around you belongs to one historical moment or social group. The stop also points towards something that no longer survives: Zaragoza's iconic Mudéjar Torre Nueva, built in 1504, was demolished by municipal decree in 1892. Ending with a vanished landmark is useful because this route has repeatedly relied on traces rather than complete survival: street patterns, documented careers, surviving brickwork and stories whose certainty varies from fact to hypothesis or legend.
Accessibility at this stop
Se observan callejones estrechos (callizos) a lo largo de la calle de los Predicadores junto a frentes de calle más amplios. Faltan detalles sobre las condiciones físicas de accesibilidad.
