On arrival

On Dominikánské náměstí, find the three low bronze geometric forms of the water feature.

Look closer

Compare the flattened cone openings from different streets leading into the square; their proportions shift dramatically with viewpoint.

Public art can monumentalise infrastructure instead of a person.

Dominikánské náměstí gives you public art that barely looks commemorative at all. Ploché kužely, handed to the public in 2023, consists of three bronze forms by Tomáš Pavlacký and Michael Gabriel. The municipal description frames the distorted cones as pipes seen through an impossible perspective, with water as the medium running through the history of modern civilisation. That turns an everyday technical thing—plumbing—into a spatial puzzle. Stand back, then change your angle. The point is not to decode one hidden symbol but to notice how geometry, utility and civic space get folded into the same object.

Accessibility at this stop

The work occupies a paved civic square. Current water operation, surface conditions and step-free circulation should be verified on site.
