The giraffe knows she is being watched

On arrival

Find the bronze giraffe on the central promenade of Rambla de Catalunya near Avinguda Diagonal.

Look closer

Notice how the giraffe's pose feels socially self-aware rather than naturalistic; compare her body language with pedestrians using the promenade.

Barcelona's street zoo begins with an animal acting suspiciously human.

Start with a giraffe that has almost no interest in behaving like wildlife. Josep Granyer's Coqueta stands near the upper end of Rambla de Catalunya, close to Diagonal, with the poised attitude of someone checking how the street is reacting to her. The municipal public-art catalogue pairs her with Granyer's Meditació under the wonderfully useful label El Zoo inacabat — the unfinished zoo. That phrase gives the route its premise without us inventing one. Look less at anatomical accuracy and more at posture: long legs, tilted body, social confidence. This is an animal designed to participate in city life, not imitate a savannah.

Accessibility at this stop

Exterior public-space stop on a broad central promenade. Exact curb, crossing and step-free approach conditions still require human or on-site verification.
