FLIRTING WAS CHEAP PRINT — four pages of romantic negotiation

On arrival

Pause on Carrer de les Ramelleres around numbers 15–17. Number 17 provides a precisely mapped public anchor beside the documented historical printing address at number 15.

Look closer

Read the ordinary street numbers and shopfront rhythm. Nothing announces that a tiny courtship dialogue was printed here, which is exactly why the archival connection matters.

Love enters mass media — not as an epic poem, but as four cheap pages of people negotiating one another.

Move north to Ramelleres. In 1859 a Barcelona printer at number 15 produced Los fastichs, entre un fadrí y una donsella. The surviving library catalogue does not give us licence to invent a whole plot, but it tells us enough: four pages, structured as dialogue, catalogued under love, courtship and relationships between men and women. That modest object is more revealing than another grand love monument. Courtship could be turned into cheap popular print — something copied, sold, read aloud and laughed over. The original press is not the attraction here; the address is a material pin in the map connecting everyday nineteenth-century flirting with a surviving bibliographic object.
