On arrival
Use the public section of Carrer d'en Robador near Plaça Salvador Seguí. Do not photograph or point at people and do not treat current residents or workers as exhibits.
Look closer
Notice how the narrow street meets the large contemporary Filmoteca square — an abrupt contrast between older urban fabric and later cultural redevelopment.
Night is not only consumed; it is classified, policed and negotiated.
A few minutes away, Carrer d'en Robador tells a less celebratory story about nocturnal urban life. Municipal social-history material identifies this street as a long-standing centre of commercial sex in the Barri Xino and documents changing systems of regulation, policing, health control, fines and urban redevelopment. A city can celebrate some night-time activity as culture while defining other activity as disorder. The point is not to turn sex workers into colourful local folklore or to sensationalise a living street. It is to notice how regulation changes geography: practices are tolerated, confined, displaced or made more visible depending on policy. Walk the street respectfully and use the physical narrowness, doorways and proximity to the Filmoteca as evidence of a neighbourhood repeatedly rewritten around people who did not disappear when plans changed.
Accessibility at this stop
Narrow urban street with variable pedestrian congestion; respectful behaviour and current surface/kerb verification are essential.
