On arrival
Enter Lužánky and pause near the central paths or pavilion where you can hear the park without standing in a cycle or service route.
Look closer
Do not search for one historic object. Listen for repeating bird calls, snippets of speech and the changing acoustic distance between paths, lawns and trees.
The final exhibit is not an object. It is whatever the park is sounding like today.
Finish in Lužánky, not with a concert hall but with the kind of raw sound Janáček kept collecting. The official Janáček trail records that he performed public concerts here as a child between 1866 and 1869. Much later he walked in the park nearly every day and wrote down many speech melodies, particularly birdsong. One preserved notation dated 9 May 1921 records a bird's 'beautiful flute voice' in this park; another from 1924 catches a soldier asking passers-by for the time. The route can now disappear into its subject. Stop reading for a moment. Listen for a bird, a fragment of conversation or footsteps, and notice its contour before naming its source.
Accessibility at this stop
Lužánky has a network of public park paths, but the exact chosen listening point, surface quality and step-free route need human or on-site verification before stronger accessibility claims are made.
