On arrival
Walk around it from a safe distance and find the angle where the legs look most impossible.
Look closer
The extraordinarily long legs, the lack of a pedestal, and the scale of the human body framed beneath it.
Eight metres of bronze and a set of legs that would make an anatomy professor resign on the spot.
Jaroslav Róna's artwork represents Jobst of Moravia and the virtue of courage. But its true urban superpower is something else: by doing away with a traditional pedestal, it lets people visually enter the sculpture. Look at it from a distance, then shift your perspective. Brno has just jumped from a tiny character to an XXL horse without transition. Size is no longer a guide to deciding what matters.
Accessibility at this stop
Do not stand underneath during crowds, ice, or restricted access; provide viewing guidance from a static, accessible vantage point.
