Look closer
The allegorical group, its threshold position, and its relationship to the entrance.
Before traveling to 1928, you receive a message from 1958.
Before taking a mental trip back to 1928, you receive a message sent from 1958. Originally titled Atomový věk ("Atomic Age"), this sculpture won a Grand Prix at the 1958 Brussels World's Fair before arriving in Brno in 1959. Later, it was renamed Nový věk—"New Era." It seems even the future needs a rebrand sometimes. 🚀
Walk around it and decide what vibe it projects: is it a welcome, a promise, or a warning? Don't worry about decoding every figure as if there were a single correct key. What matters is its role as a threshold and the sheer ambition of its form. Before you even set foot inside, the fairgrounds declare that generations here have built concrete visions of things that didn't yet exist.
This tour treats the exhibition grounds as a time machine. Each stop showcases a different prototype of modernity. The sculpture gives us our first clue: the future isn't a fixed date. It's a stage set that each generation designs, exhibits, and rebrands whenever necessary.
