Order the future

On arrival

Stand on the park side of Zeman Café at Jezuitská 6, where the glazed main facade and low geometric volumes can be read together.

Look closer

Find the large steel-framed glazing, then trace how the main café block meets the smaller entrance and service volumes without ornamental transitions.

Modern Brno first reaches you as a bodily pleasure: more light, less ceremony and coffee beside a wall that wants to vanish.

Begin at Zeman Café, but begin honestly: the building in front of you is a 1995 reconstruction on a nearby site, not the surviving 1926 original. That makes it an unusually good time machine. Bohuslav Fuchs designed the first café as a strict arrangement of cubes, glass and retractable windows, allowing the main room to open toward the park. Imagine arriving without knowing the word functionalism. What would feel new was not a theory but the light, the lack of decoration and the possibility that a wall could almost disappear in summer. Your first task in the new city is simple: choose a table with the best relationship to the outside.

Accessibility at this stop

The exterior reading is step-free from the park paths. Entering or buying anything is optional. The present café is a reconstruction, and opening hours must not be required for route completion.
