The Total Interior Beyond the Rationalist Shell

White glazed wall tiles with geometric patterns, ceramic ceiling lamps, wooden apothecary shelving, and original ceramic jars.

Step across the threshold at Carrer de l'Argenteria, 29 into an active, operating community pharmacy. Commissioned in 1908 for the architect's brother Joan Masó and partner Lluís Puig, this project was one of Rafael Masó's first major commissions upon returning to Girona as a fully qualified architect. The exterior street wall might mislead you; it was completely rebuilt in 1935 in Rationalist style by architect Josep Claret i Rubira. However, the interior remains a pristine example of Secessionist total design. Notice the original white glazed wall tiles with geometric patterns, the bespoke wooden apothecary shelving, ceramic ceiling lamps, and original ceramic jars designed specifically by Masó. It is a rare functional survivor of early twentieth-century commercial craftsmanship.
